It is the 2nd largest public school district in the United States. Only the New York City Department of Education has a larger student population. During the 2011-2012 school year, LAUSD served 662,140 students, and had 45,473 teachers and 38,494 other employees.

Sarnia - Wi-Fi is Scary and Carcinogenic Woo Woo
Feb 15, 2012
About one third of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board's 29 elementary and high schools have Wi-Fi already, said director of education Paul Wubben. And there are plans to expand.

Meanwhile the Lambton Kent District School Board, the local public board, offers Wi-Fi access to 24,000 students at 66 elementary and secondary schools across the district.

Sarnia - Ontario City Baffled by Cluster of Teen Suicides
Tuesday, Jun. 12, 2012

Why are so many teenagers in Sarnia, Ontario, taking their lives? That's what the city is wondering after nine teens in the quiet, middle-class town died by suicide in less than two years.

What's more, some four dozen other teens in the area have been hospitalized because they were at risk of suicide.

Wi-Fi: Our buses are equipped with carcinogenic Wi-Fi hot spots. This technology is new, and there are spots on the trip where the service may be unavailable. We also do not advise downloading large files, as the speed will be relatively slow. The Wi-Fi service is free of charge...enjoy.

Mobile mast 'allergy' woman moved to US for better health

In Autumn, Silvia Wilson moved from her home in Horncastle to Green Bank in West Virginia, US, where radios and mobile phones are restricted.  Previously, Silvia said she would get headaches and sickness and claimed to be "allergic" to signals from a mobile phone mast near her home.

How Did a Cell Tower End Up on Lindero's Campus?

An interesting story from 2011, with an excellent reply to a stupid comment that was posted.

Thanks Sarah for your concern over my kid's well being. And if by hippy you mean: person who doesn't buy all the marketing and instead does her own research, then guilty as charged.

But because I have done the research, there are ways we have modified our lives to enjoy them and stay healthy. First, my 13 year old does not have a cell phone - only because he's at the age where I don't trust he will use the measures we use to protect our brains from, yes, non-thermal radiation. We use wired air tube headsets.

We also don't use cordless phones anymore. It's really not that big of a deal as a trade off against brain cancer and at least this way we always know where the phone is!

And we don't have wi-fi in the house. I used to love it but it's not worth the risks. It's like having your own personal cell antenna at home. Since we've gotten rid of it, my husband sleeps better.

All the other technology you mentioned doesn't get pressed to our skulls and can be turned off.

But the thing that concerns me about your comment (which btw, I really appreciate that you took the time to write!) is it sounds like you pretty much have drank the cool-aid. Just because there are challenges in our lives, doesn't mean we shouldn't try to overcome them.

Even though the sun emits radiation, I still wear sunscreen. But every kid in vicinity of this cell antenna will be pummeled with radiation contrained by safety standards set for a 6-foot tall man. I had to at least try to stop that.

Paris metro workers sue over electromagnetic emissions

    Thursday 9 February 2012 | 09:09 CET | News

Paris metro transport workers' representatives have expressed concern over staff's exposure to electromagnetic emissions and surprise over management's refusal to pay for an expert study. Le Monde reports that the matter was referred to the Paris superior court, which must assess whether the request of RATP and the occupational health committee was founded. Antennas are multiplying throughout the metro system's hallways and driver cabins. Some networks allow personnal to communicate with the central computer, to locate trains, to control speeds and send maintenance data. Others enable travellers to use their mobiles on the go. More equipment is due to be installed with RATP's rollout of underground 3G. RATP management cited in-house studies that found that emissions have always been under the mandated level of 41 V/m for 2G. The committee wants the tests to be undertaken by CQFD, a group formed by consumer group Robin des Toits, which seeks to lower emissions nationally. The committee argues that management's refusal to allow tests reflect its desire to control the information given to staff and to metro users.
