Abstract
Word Heath Organisation (WHO) outlined in 2005 recommendations, how to treat people suffering from the functional impairment electrohypersensitivity in its document "Electromagnetic fields and public health". Unfortunately the reduction of electromagnetic fields was not considered as a treatment option. The aim of the current study was to shield the computer user from the emitted electromagnetic irradiation and fields and to correlate that to the subjective symptoms reported by electrohypersensitive volunteers. The irradiation of the shielding cabinets was recorded. They housed either separate computer screens or whole laptops. When the volunteers had used the shielding cabinet for 1-7 years, they were able work with their computers whole working day, Those who had used the shielding cabined for 2-3 months were partially symptom free. The person who had used the cabinet only for 1 week reported some alleviation of her nausea. In conclusion: it seems that reducing the electromagnetic irradiation of the computer can lessen the symptoms of electrohypersensitivity and permit working without problems. Further studies are needed to clarify how the symptoms of different organ systems recover and make computer users to work also professionally.

Voltage problem for dairy cows results in lawsuits, Senate bill
The Iowa Legislature is trying to tackle a shocking bovine problem. Something known as stray electrical voltage is zapping thousands of the state's dairy cows, giving them jolts that can affect milk production and interfere with breeding schedules.
The next step is to get it through the Georgia House. If this can happen in Georgia, it can happen anywhere. If you live in Georgia please contact your Georgia HOUSE Representatives (not Federal but State reps) and let them know that you want this bill passed! ► Human Chorionic Gonadotropin was exposed to microwaves emitted from cell phones. ► Cell phones exposure causes profound changes in the HCG during immunoenzymometric assay. ► The exposure results in reduction of HCG scores during the assay. ► Exposure at 0.69 W/Kg gives little loose to a pronounced HCG relative to 1.09 W/Kg. ► These results were obtained by using mobile phones to reproduce the reality of the human exposition.
Abstract
The radiofrequency radiation is of concern in hospital laboratories as the microwaves have many health effects even on immune functions. The aim of this study was, however, to evaluate the effects of cell phone radiation on chorionic gonadotropin immunoassays of human serum. Two cell phones with 0.69 and 1.09 W/kg (head SAR) emitting 900 MHz radiation were used. Sixty wells with five human serum concentrations (0, 10, 100, 250, 500 mIU/mL) were used in three batches. The well heads in each batch were exposed to 900 MHz emitted from these phones, and the 0.69, 1.09 W/kg exposed batches were compared with the unexposed controls. Radiation exposure from mobile phones altered the measured serum levels especially in the wells with 100, 250, 500 mIU/mL hormone concentrations. Exposure at 1.09 W/kg SAR caused a significant loss compared to 0.69 W/kg SAR exposure. In conclusion, the microwave exposures may require attention in laboratories using immunoassays.

U.S. Brain Tumor Rates Consistent
with Interphone Study Results
Today the National Cancer Institute (NCI) published a paper in the British Medical Journal which used results from the major epidemiologic studies on cell phone use and brain tumor risk (i.e., glioma) to predict trends in the U.S. cancer registry data. The authors concluded that "the U.S. data could be consistent with the modest excess risks in the Interphone study." This conclusion provides greater credence to the International Agency for Research on Cancer's classification of mobile phone radiation as a "possible human carcinogen" because the experts relied heavily on the Interphone study results.
NCI concluded in their BMJ paper:
- "Raised risks of glioma with mobile phone use, as reported by one (Swedish) study forming the basis of the IARCs re-evaluation of mobile phone exposure, are not consistent with observed incidence trends in US population data, although the US data could be consistent with the modest excess risks in the Interphone study."
- "Joel Moskowitz of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health takes exception at NCI's characterization of the Interphone risks as "modest." In an interview, he pointed out that the tumor risks among long-term users in Interphone's Appendix 2 was above two. "The doubling of the glioma risk among cell phone users over ten years is neither modest nor trivial," he said. Moskowitz added that the long-term risk in Appendix 2 is not that different from that reported by Hardell."
- -- "NCI on Cell Phones: U.S. Brain Tumor Rates Consistent with Interphone, But Not with Hardell", Microwave News, March 9, 2012.
In my opinion, the complex simulations conducted for this paper make numerous assumptions and raise more questions than they answer. The paper estimates the incidence of glioma in the U.S. in 2008 to be 17.7 per 100,000 which is considerably higher than previous estimates from U.S. cancer registry data. However, this paper is important because in the past the NCI has employed the cancer registry data to support their position that there is no evidence of excess brain tumor risk due to cell phone use in the U.S. Perhaps this study will encourage the NCI to rethink its denialist position.

Abstract
Objective In view of mobile phone exposure being classified as a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), we determined the compatibility of two recent reports of glioma risk (forming the basis of the IARCs classification) with observed incidence trends in the United States.
Design Comparison of observed rates with projected rates of glioma incidence for 1997-2008. We estimated projected rates by combining relative risks reported in the 2010 Interphone study and a 2011 Swedish study by Hardell and colleagues with rates adjusted for age, registry, and sex; data for mobile phone use; and various latency periods.
Setting US population based data for glioma incidence in 1992-2008, from 12 registries in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) programme (Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose-Monterey, Seattle, rural Georgia, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, New Mexico, and Utah).
Participants Data for 24 813 non-Hispanic white people diagnosed with glioma at age 18 years or older.
Results Age specific incidence rates of glioma remained generally constant in 1992-2008 ( 0.02% change per year, 95% confidence interval 0.28% to 0.25%), a period coinciding with a substantial increase in mobile phone use from close to 0% to almost 100% of the US population. If phone use was associated with glioma risk, we expected glioma incidence rates to be higher than those observed, even with a latency period of 10 years and low relative risks (1.5). Based on relative risks of glioma by tumour latency and cumulative hours of phone use in the Swedish study, predicted rates should have been at least 40% higher than observed rates in 2008. However, predicted glioma rates based on the small proportion of highly exposed people in the Interphone study could be consistent with the observed data. Results remained valid if we used either non-regular users or low users of mobile phones as the baseline category, and if we constrained relative risks to be more than 1.
Conclusions Raised risks of glioma with mobile phone use, as reported by one (Swedish) study forming the basis of the IARCs re-evaluation of mobile phone exposure, are not consistent with observed incidence trends in US population data, although the US data could be consistent with the modest excess risks in the Interphone study.

To constantly be connected and always available is a reality for many young people. Intensive use of cell phones and computers is a serious health risk, according to a new Swedish study.
Communications technology has been rapid and many young people have a strong need to always have contact with friends and keep updated in the news on the internet. But there is a high price as young heavy users of computers and mobile phones pay as insomnia, stress and mental illness.
The student Sara Thomée, along with colleagues at the Sahlgrenska Academy, Gothenburg University, in four different studies have examined how the mental health consequences of young people who use computers and mobile.
The basis of the survey included the responses from 4100 young people aged 20-24 years and interviews with 32 young heavy users of computers and mobiles.
The results show a clear link between stress, sleep disorders, mental illness and intensive use of cell phones and computers.
- We have explored the effects both quantitatively and qualitatively, and followed up on people a year later. The conclusion is that the intensive use of ICT can have effects on mental health, says Sara Thomée in a statement.
In both men and women there was increased sleep problems and depressive symptoms in frequent mobile use.
- The persons who are experiencing mobile phone's constant availability as stressful are those which highest reporting on mental illness, says Sara Thomée.
Many young people often sit up at night at the computer without taking breaks.
- To frequently use the computer late at night is not only associated with sleep disorders, but also with stress and mental ill health in both men and women, says Sara Thomée.
Thomée calls for preventive public health measures that should also include advice and information to young people on how to use communications technology in a healthy manner.
- They include the need to take breaks, to allow time for recovery with intensive use and to set limits on the availability, says Sara Thomée.
Mona Nilsson, journalist and author who for many years covered the dangers of cell phones and electromagnetic radiation, is not surprised by the results of the study but worried for the young as she feels they are misled by the authorities and industry about the risks:
- It is known since decades, high exposure to electromagnetic fields and cell phone radiation is a strong stressor and that the radiation causes sleep problems and depressive syntom. This is because the radiation affects neurotransmitters and hormones in the brain and affects the function of the central nervous system, says Mona Nilsson The Epoch Times.
Mona Nilsson is of the opinion that schools should take responsibility and stop the use of mobile phones and computers during school hours.
- It's time you go out and recommend that children and teenagers should use the phone only for emergency calls and text messages, and that the massive introduction of laptops and wifi in schools is stopped. We already have too many young people who suffers from psychological problems and the long-term consequences can be very serious if we do not begin to tell the truth about the risks of the wireless technology, says Mona Nilsson.
