Australian householders are rebelling against rising power bills and the new "smart" meters being installed against their will. The Victorian government has already been forced to review their new power meter rollout, after residents discovered a shocking rise in their power bills and began fighting back.

The Clean energy Act of May 2010 mandates that BC Hydro replace every meter with a "smart" meter by 2012. There was no normal process for public input. The Act strips the BC Utilities Commission of the power to review the project. Our government mandated this. Our government can repeal it.

Wi-Fi fearing parents pull kids from school
Parents are concerned that Wi-Fi could be exposing their children to radiation six hours a day, five days a week, for 40 weeks of the year, she said.
"There have been no studies on children to determine whether that level of exposure for that length of time is safe," said Marrin.

Wifi-Free Wednesday Protest in York Region Nov. 23, 2011
Today, in Aurora (near Toronto) Ontario there was an anti-Wifi in schools protest outside the York Region District School Board office. The main organizers did 6 telephone interviews today with one scheduled for tomorrow. CTV, CITY, and CBC sent cameras and reporters. There were about 40 people, some of whom were children. The protesters were just down the street from the School Board Office at the side of the road near a traffic light. The protesters had sandwich board signs set up at either side of the Board Office driveway, lawn signs along the road, hand held signs, plus handouts for the public. Some people honked their car horn in support as they drove past.
The York Region Parents are encouraging other parents groups across Canada and worldwide to participate in Wifi-Free Wednesday.
Here is another news story. Apparently, some people are complaining that their comments, which are supportive of the protesters are being 'lost' in moderation without being posted. Unfortunately, this gives a very unbalanced view of public opinion.

Immune System suppressed by EMFs
Research from 2006
Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) is ubiquitous for almost all
individuals living in industrialized countries. Epidemiological and
laboratory studies suggest that exposure to Extremely Low Frequency (ELF)
EMF increase cancer risk. The immune system functions as one of the body's
main protective mechanisms, and Natural Killer (NK) cells are a subset of
lymphocytes that can destroy several types of tumor cells. In this study,
we investigated, NK cell activity after exposure to a 50 Hertz (Hz), 2 mT
magnetic field generated by a Helmholtz Coil. Nineteen male, 10-12 week old
guinea pigs were used, and NK cytotoxic activity of splenocytes was
measured in vitro by natural anticandidial colorimetric index. The
Mann-Whitney U test was applied for statistical analysis. NK cell cytotoxic
activity was decreased in exposed compared to controls. Our data suggests
that part of the immune system, the NK cell, can be suppressed by a 50 Hz
magnetic field.
