Time-Lapse Map of Every Nuclear Explosion Since 1945

Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project's "Trinity" test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan's nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea's two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear).

Each nation gets a blip and a flashing dot on the map whenever they detonate a nuclear weapon, with a running tally kept on the top and bottom bars of the screen. Hashimoto, who began the project in 2003, says that he created it with the goal of showing"the fear and folly of nuclear weapons." It starts really slow — if you want to see real action, skip ahead to 1962 or so — but the build-up becomes overwhelming.

School exchanges risk of cancer and ill health for a ticket booth!

North Platte resident Tia McGuire told the council that a 10-year study conducted in Germany showed that people who live within a quarter-mile of a cell phone tower are three times more likely to be diagnosed with cancer. A similar 10-year study in Israel showed that people are four times more likely to develop cancer if they live close to a cell tower.

Our people and our community demand better. Mayday is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a distress signal in radio communications. The word derives from the French venez m'aider, meaning "come help me", and is used by firefighters. The call is always given three times in a row ("Mayday Mayday Mayday"). If one of the proponents went to Industry Canada with a proposal to put a cell tower, under 15 metres, anywhere in the town, it's exempt. She is correct on PRIVATE property, however on Town property the Town has 100% authority. The Fire Station #1 tower is on Town property.

This study involves voluntary participation from members of the community at three levels of involvement. This is open to anyone who lives within 1000 meters of the fire hall who is 18 years or older. Those who are younger would require a parent to complete the form weekly. As part of the study (open to a few of those who sign up for the study) professionals will conduct radiation monitoring in your home. This is in addition to baseline monitoring at different distances from the antenna several times during the coming year, to map the area for radiation.

Fight those Stupid Meters

Please support actions in your state or neighboring states. Where legislation is up for hearing, please send testimony if you can. Even if it is not your state, states often want to avoid making similar mistakes and your testimony about problems being caused for you by smart meters, can often have a huge impact.

Please help move awareness forward. The mainstream media has essentially ignored the serious problems that transmitting meters are having for many people. Some rare exceptions exist. Federation of Canadian Municipalities

Here is the link to a reported written by FCM in 2009. I believe this is a topic that should be discussed at the conference in June, if not formally then informally. More municipalities are facing the siting to transmission towers with no consideration of local concerns or objections, and this intrusion into communities will likely increase, especially with companies like Shaw installing WiFi transmitters in every community. It is unfortunate that there is no workshop devoted to this, but if we each raise this issue with the FCM rep. hopefully it can be discussed and strategies developed.
