State Parliament of South Tyrol Applying the Precautionary Principle

Innovations at the State Parliament of South Tyrol (Landtag Südtirol): In a decision from 10 June 2015, a responsible implementation of Wi-Fi and cell phone networks as well as RF radiation exposure guidelines has been announced. The majority of the State Parliament decided allowing the application of the precautionary principle.

Motivated by sustainable progress and political responsibility, this decision mandates the state government, among other things:

  1. To replace existing wireless networks whenever possible with networks that emit less radiation at schools, preschools, hospitals, nursing homes, and other public facilities…
  2. To establish a working group whose mandate it is to assess these new technologies and their exposure levels. With regard to wireless communication technologies, mobile Internet access, and public health, the working group shall clarify which technologies emit less radiation and provide sustainable technology options…
  3. To start an education and awareness campaign that informs about possible health risks, especially regarding the unborn, infants, children, and adolescents and that develops guidelines for a safer use of cell phones, smartphones, and Wi-Fi …

Samsung Electronics to create fund for cancer-stricken workers, safety
The proposal comes after negotiations between the South Korean firm, workers and their families as well as outside experts over the company's responsibility for the workers, who have attributed illnesses such as lymphoma and leukemia to prolonged exposure to radiation or dangerous chemicals used in Samsung's factories.

Yet another high-profile Sudden Death Syndrome
A post-mortem examination on his heart at Royal Brompton Hospital later confirmed the organ was sound, therefore death was assumed to be due to an undiagnosed  Sads condition.  'An electric death' as the coroner put it.

"We think of ourselves as solid beings, but we're actually electromagnetic," Rees explains. "And when there's an energy source that's more powerful than the delicate balance in our bodies, it causes disruptions. So as a result, you're going to see every system potentially being affected."

From cancer risks and behavioral changes to cardiovascular irregularities and sleep disorders, Rees offers a laundry list of related concerns that includes many of the most prevalent medical conditions plaguing our society. "Chronic illnesses have skyrocketed since the mid-1990s when all this technology started to proliferate," says Rees.

Real vs Simulated Cell Phone Exposures - Likely Unreliable Results
New scientific paper published today where we make the following points:
  • In studies of RF health and biological effects where simulated signals are used to estimate exposure, unreliable results are likely produced. These can lead to false assurances of public safety.
  • In studies where real cell phones are used to measure actual exposure, studies are almost uniform in showing adverse effects -- more than 95% do so. This is because the real phone signals are polarized, variable in form, and therefore more bio-active than simulated estimates. As such, organisms are not able to readily adapt and compensate for damage.
  • Studies that do not use real signals do not reflect the reality of use in the population and are therefore of limited scientific and public health protection value.

Safety of smart meters questioned

All three retailers said there was no evidence, from New Zealand or internationally, that smart meters posed health and environmental risks. ( False information)

Why Smart Meters Don't Make A Smart Grid

"The committee is aware that Indians are more vulnerable and prone to risk from radiation as compared to European countries because of their low body mass index and low fat content," it added.
Mobile phone, WiFi may cause cancer: Study

A metabolic imbalance caused by radiation from your wireless devices could be the link to a number of health risks, such as various neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, the study suggested.
The hazardous effects of radiation from wireless devices could be realised through the "classical mechanisms" of oxidative impairments in living cells, the researchers said.

Stupid Water Meters
They were among eight unhooked meters showing strange readings: three spinning forward, three spinning backward and two whose patterns couldn't be determined. Two months later, village workers found another meter, hooked up in a home, that inexplicably bounced back-and-forth between display numbers.

The researchers at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Bremen have simulated what can potentially happen when smart meters on a massive scale react collectively to electricity price signals. The result: the smart meters end up providing a new artificial electricity market, which can cause the electricity supply to crash. This in turn endangers the security of supply.

Judge rules against Consumers Energy's smart meter fees

Consumers Energy claims that smart meters will save the public money on their utility bills, O'Connell wrote in his decision, "but this argument is inherently illogical.
How can smart meters save money when Consumers seeks to add millions of dollars to the base rate to fund the program?"
"They receive no benefit from the smart meter program and must actually pay to be excluded from it, but then the customer must share in the costs of the program," he wrote in his July 22 opinion.

Obituary - Karen Nold, EMF Victim and Educator

We are saddened to announce the passing of Karen Nold, owner of the EMF awareness website  Karen was a 43 years young and deeply effected by EMFs.  She died of lymphoma, an illness closely linked with EMF exposure.  I communicated with her from time to time and was shocked to hear of her passing as I did not even know of her lymphoma.  She will be missed by many.  Our condolences go out to her family and close friends.  Please visit her website in her honor and pass it on.

About a year and a half ago, his illness evolved. The same things that had sent him into a downward spiral for decades were still there, but something else began affecting his health—the electromagnetic signals upon which virtually all modern technology is built. From cellphones to Wi-Fi, most consumer technology rests on an invisible foundation of electrical signals wafting through the air.

Doucette is working with state Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, to pass legislation to create a special commission to study the health impacts of electromagnetic fields.

Doucette first made requests to look into Wi-Fi safety to the School Committee in fall 2013.

Yes the Children Are More Exposed to Radiofrequency Energy From Mobile Telephones Than Adults

In the Foster and Chou's paper from their (1) even though their simplistic (1) is valid only for a homogenous tissue slab of infinite size and the radiation source that is a wire dipole rather than a mobile telephone. Both of their assumptions for (1) are obviously not applicable for human exposures to mobile telephones.
Turning off the wireless component of a Router
My June newsletter posted incomplete info about turning off your Wi-Fi router (until you get hard-wired Internet access). Barb Payne sent the following correction:
Type in or, then hit enter. This'll take you to your modem router. Give your password. At "wireless set up," you'll have the choice to enable or disable. You can restore Wi-Fi the same way. If one of these sets of numbers don't work, phone your Internet service provider and ask, "What URL do I use to access my router settings online? If you use a wireless router that is not provided by your Internet service provider, the correct set of numbers for turning it off should be provided by your router's manufacturer.

Awareness Campaign Needed on Cellphone Use, Wi-Fi Radiation Risks amid Conflicting Government Reports

The Journal article also pointed out that the Committee itself had to ask federal representatives to 'go back to work' and review some 140 recent studies that show wireless radiation emitted by cellphones and Wi-Fi can cause harm. It cited one scientist who said that given the overwhelming evidence that wireless radiation is harmful, Health Canada is "unwilling or not competent to make evaluation of the current literature."

Electric fields affect fruit fly wing movement, leading to agitation and changes in brain chemistry

A new piece of research led by the University of Southampton has found that the behaviour of fruit flies, which are commonly used in laboratory experiments, is altered by electric fields.

The research indicates that the wings of the insects are disturbed by static electric fields, leading to changes in avoidance behaviour and the neurochemical balance of their brains.

The paper, published in the Proceeding of the Royal Society B, suggests that the plastic housing laboratory fruit flies are commonly kept in (which hold their own static electric charge) could agitate the flies, changing their behaviour and neurochemical profile which has the potential to impact or confound other studies for which they are being used.

Smart Meter Fees May Go Down
In last week's order, Judge Peter O'Connell said he'd "find it disconcerting, if true, that a smart meter in conjunction with a smart television might allow others to listen and record private conversations in one's living room.

Israel - Early detection of cancer of the mouth and the lips

Every year hundreds of people are diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and lips. On the 20th of July, the unit of mouth and jaw surgery in Wolfson Medical Center was doing a day for an early detection of cancer of the mouth space and the lips. The public was invited to be examined for free.

According to an article published 29/7/15, in Bio magazine by Dr. Yaniv Dagan, manager of Wolfson medical center's unit of mouth surgery, cancer of the mouth and the throat is the 8th frequent cancer.

Smart Meter Information that you may find interesting

From an unidentified contributer

Re: safety of apartment with multiple smart meters

I am a "smart" meter expert. Read this carefully. Your information is correct because the radiation falls off rapidly within a foot or two, and dense books will absorb a bit. However the actual level goes from "burned to a crisp" to "deep fried." "Better" does NOT mean safe! No, no, no! Do NOT take the apartment!

Trying to shield yourself from this type of radiation is like trying to shield yourself from a tsunami. If you have a wall between you and the tsunami the wall may take out some of the impact, but water wraps around the wall and you drown.

Put a very large piece of reflective metal between you and the "smart" meter and it will take out some of the "smack", however the radiation wraps around and you are engulfed.

You will see websites which show blocking the meter is effective. This is ignorance as it does not account for the wrap around. Radiation is like water or light. When you put something in front of a lamp can you not see behind it? The light wraps around and also reflects off of other objects. When you put your hand in front of a hose how much of that water gets behind your hand?

Electric companies publicize that a "smart" meter's power is low. This is because the meter puts out extremely large bursts of millisecond radiation and the electric company uses time-averaging. This means they average the measurements over time. For example, the moment of ignition when a bomb explodes has extremely high power, but those moments just before and after the explosion have NO power. When you average the bomb's power over time, the power of that bomb is so low that it could not move a feather.
