Report Tabled

 

On Tuesday June 9th, 2015 the Standing Committee on Health, who's mandate is to study and report on all matters relating to the mandate, management, and operation of Health Canada, unanimously adopted the final report of their study into Health Canada's Safety Code 6. 

Yesterday, on June 17th, 2015, the Chair of the HESA panel MP Ben Lobb read and tabled the below final 12 HESA recommendations into the House of Commons, requesting that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report. As the current Government goes on summer break on June 19th, 2015, followed by the federal election in October, it will be the new Government that is elected that will be responding.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Recommendation 1

That the Government of Canada, in collaboration with the health departments of the provinces and territories, examine existing cancer data collection methods to improve the collection of information relating to wireless device use and cancer.

 

Recommendation 2

That Statistics Canada consider including questions related to electromagnetic hypersensitivity in the Canadian Community Health Survey.

 

Recommendation 3

That the Government of Canada, through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, consider funding research into electromagnetic hypersensitivity testing, diagnosis and treatment, and its possible impacts on health in the workplace.

 

Recommendation 4

That the Canadian Medical Association, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the World Health Organization consider updating their guidelines and continuing education materials regarding the diagnosis and treatment of electromagnetic hypersensitivity to ensure they are based on the latest scientific evidence and reflect the symptoms of affected Canadians.

 

Recommendation 5

That the Government of Canada continue to provide reasonable accommodations for environmental sensitivities, including electromagnetic hypersensitivity, as required under the Canadian Human Rights Act.

 

Recommendation 6

That Health Canada ensure the openness and transparency of its processes for the review of Safety Code 6, so that all Canadians have an opportunity to be informed about the evidence considered or excluded in such reviews, that outside experts are provided full information when doing independent reviews, and that the scientific rationale for any change is clearly communicated.

 

Recommendation 7

That the Government of Canada establish a system for Canadians to report potential adverse reactions to radiofrequency fields.

 

Recommendation 8

That an independent scientific body recognized by Health Canada examine whether measures taken and guidelines provided in other countries, such as France and Israel, to limit the exposure of vulnerable populations, including infants, and young children in the school environment, to radiofrequencies should be adopted in Canada.

 

Recommendation 9

That the Government of Canada develop an awareness campaign relating to the safe use of wireless technologies, such as cell phones and Wi-Fi, in key environments such as the school and home to ensure that Canadian families and children are reducing risks related to radiofrequency exposure.

 

Recommendation 10

That Health Canada conduct a comprehensive review of all existing literature relating to radiofrequency fields and carcinogenicity based on international best practices.

 

Recommendation 11

That the Government of Canada, through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, consider funding research into the link between radiofrequency fields and potential health effects such as cancer, genetic damage, infertility, impairment to development and behaviour, harmful effects to eyes and on the brain, cardiovascular, biological and biochemical effects.

 

Recommendation 12

That the Government of Canada and manufacturers consider policy measures regarding the marketing of radiation emitting devices to children under the age of 14, in order to ensure they are aware of the health risks and how they can be avoided.

 

I thank you for your continued support and actions over the past three years that has help make this possible. There is much more work to do over the summer and come October to ensure these recommendations are acted upon, however this is a BIG step in the right direction.

Hydro suing Vancouver Landlord because they can't prove meters are safe

Dear Sir or Madam, 

This lawsuit is the height of harassment.  All Mr. Jackanin has ever asked for is proof that the smart meters are safe. Many people have been asking for this same proof before agreeing to having one put on their homes, and BC Hydro has harassed, bullied, and lied. People have been threatened with loss of power during the cold winter, despite having young children or being ill. People have been pushed around verbally and physically. Homes and personal property have been damaged. Yet BC Hydro faces no retribution by either the BCUC or the government.

There is serious evidence from independent scientists that RF radiation is harmful. It is a 2b carcinogen like lead, DDT, HIV and many industrial chemicals. Hundreds of independent scientists have performed thousands of peer reviewed studies showing that prolonged exposure can cause various types of health problems ranging from sleep and neurological disorders, to fertility and cardiac problems,  even DNA damage and cancer. I would be happy to share a huge library of studies I've collected over the years, or to put you in touch with some of the world renowned scientists who are warning us that RF/microwave radiation should be avoided.

Also there have been fires and many failures with the meters overheating and melting. These are made of combustible plastic where analogs were made of glass and metal. The ITRON meters contain lithium metal batteries, which are being banned by many airlines. They can explode and burn when heated as they will be when sitting in the summer sun, or exposed to moisture like condensation. They have remote disconnect switches which were found to be the cause of fires in places like Saskatchewan and Oregon.

Further the meters are being put into a meter base that was designed and certified to hold an analog (non electrical) meter and not an electrical digital or smart meter. As far as we know these meters have not been certified safe as is required by law. Utility equipment is exempt from CSA certification on the condition that it is certified by a professional electrical engineer licensed by BC. ( http://www.bclaws.ca/EPLibraries/bclaws_new/document/ID/freeside/12_100_2004#section21 ) When asked for this certification BC Hydro said they don't have one.

In Texas there have been many ITRON Openway smart meters (the same used in BC)  that have burned. In a lawsuit testimony described how the meter blades were thinner than the analog which caused a gap which led to arcing and fires. http://www.stopsmartmetersbc.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Reed_Answering_Brief-1.pdf  page 8  Design flaws led to "palettes" of burned meters, but customers were to be told it was their meter base that caused the problem.

Our Charter of Rights and Freedoms says that no government or government agency can force us to use something for which there is justifiable reason for concern. There definitely is reason for concern and Mr. Jackanin is right to protect his tenants and the owner's property.

Framingham: Experts warn of wifi effects on children

 

Dr. Devra Davis, founder of Environmental Health Trust, said children today have toys that radiate energy, from the digital "iPotty" to a plastic teething rattle iPhone case.

Electricians talk about smart meters

 

The traditional mechanical meters would survive a major overvoltage event of fairly long duration...remember they were, electrically, just coils of wire. They may suffer some arc damage but in all likelyhood would continue to work (with reduced accuracy). And further, they had glass covers which wouldn't melt and were strong enough to contain an arc flash.

Smart meters contain a buttload of electronics on circuit boards with very small (and closely spaced) traces so flashovers and burnouts are very likely even with a relatively minor surge event. Plus the cases and covers are all plastic.

I have one that I can take apart so I will get some pics to add to this thread later.

Our complaint is that the tabs on the new meters are thinner, about 1/2 the thickness, than the old meters.
If the tabs do not have really good spring action left in them, they cook off when people start turning on their heaters in the winter.

Israel: Cancer is increasing, oncologists are needed

Only 250 oncologists treat patients in Israel. About 200
oncologists are missing to treat the increasing number of
cancer patients.

In Rambam, in 2004 were 9,490 cancer patients, and in 2014 the
number was 13,667.  Increase of 44%, says Prof' Rafi Biar,
manager of Rambam hospital. Within one decade, the number of
visits in the oncology departments in the hospital increased
from 105,000 to 163,000 visits. The result is unsupportable
overload on the system. There are not enough beds.

This problem is not only in Rambam, it is felt in other
hospitals too. In Shiba hospital, in Tel Hashomer, each year
there are 4,500 new cancer patients. In part of the units,
like those treating GI tract cancer and melanoma, the number
was doubled in the last 4 years with the same number of
oncologists.

In Hadassa hospital, increase of cancer is reported too.

In Ichilov hospital, every month thousands of patients are
treated, and every night 30 patients are hospitalized.

Long before WiFi, cordless telephones and cell phones were invented, the US, the Soviets and other Western Governments knew that microwave radiation was very harmful and had very serious health effects. The masses of scientific research which proved this was mostly kept secret because the military needed to use modern radar and communications systems during the cold war. Those early scientific papers are now widely available and have been updated with masses of new recent scientific research which also confirms how harmful wireless radiation can be.

The BioInitiative Report, available at www.bioinitiative.org  puts the scientific evidence in an easy to read document that shows links to various illnesses and medical problems.

Everyone who is exposed to wireless radiation is putting their long term health at great risk. It is not surprising that people are harmed by WiFi, it is more surprising that many more people are not suffering yet. Perhaps their first sign will be one of the several cancers that are related to wireless exposure, or maybe one of the many auto immune diseases that have popped up since wireless has become widely used. It may show itself as depression, sleep disruption, heart problems or any of the many other biological effects that have been linked to wireless exposure.

Smart meter fires are very serious and have caused at least one death in the United States and one in Canada. The damage they cause and the dangers involved are fairly easy to see.
What most people do not realize is the even more serious long term harm that can be caused by the strong bursts of microwave radiation that the meters emit. The radiation is a carcinogen that can cause significant sleep problems, depression, heart problems and damage DNA etc.
All over the USA and Australia where smart meters have been installed, they have caused people to become seriously ill, and numerous groups have been formed to fight against them.
The name 'smart meters' needs to be changed to something like 'dumb, dangerous, hazardous meters'.

Swedish cancer researcher paid by the Swedish Cancer Society has for long time worked for industry to deny cancer risks

In 2013 more than 61,000 new cancer cases were reported to the Swedish Cancer Register. This was all time high and may be compared with e.g. 1970 with 28,000 cases. The increase is remarkable even if age and population number is considered.

Decision Appealed as Liars and Lawbreakers run amok at the ACC

          Last month the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) rescinded the decision they made last December to allow APS to charge customers without "smart" meters a monthly extortion fee. However, the ACC's decision was just a lame stalling technique, and it was filled with illegalities and lies. So I appealed it.

          It actually runs 108 pages but that's only because I included some "Exhibits" to help make my points. The 19 page appeal starts after the 2 page cover letter at the above link.

          As you'll see, the ACC has proved what Tacitus said 1,900 years ago: Crime, once exposed, has no refuge but in audacity.

Introduction

           As an intervenor in ACC Docket # E-01345A-13-0069, I hereby appeal the commission's ill-conceived Decision # 75047 for the reasons and facts outlined here in this statement.

           In Decision # 75047, the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) has outdone itself in lies, lawlessness and legal gymnastics. It seems the ACC will do almost anything to avoid its responsibilities under law and to deny justice.

           In this appeal, I will be dissecting the ACC's Decision # 75047 line by line in the order it was written.

           Also addressed will be laws I had not previously realized the ACC was breaking and/or ignoring. These laws are state statutes and codes I came across in the course of researching this appeal.

           Much of this appeal will be a repetition of my original appeal filed January 5, 2015 in this docket, and of my response to the ACC's "sample orders" which the ACC filed in this docket on March 10, 2015 – and both the appeal and the response were largely repetitions of letters I have written the commission over the last 4 years. (Both my original appeal and my response to the "sample orders" are enclosed as Exhibits A and B, and are included as part of this appeal.)

           This constant repetition is unfortunately necessary because the ACC refuses to break its pattern of ignoring issues and laws which it cannot address or is unwilling to acknowledge altogether. Indeed, the ACC's malevolent pattern is so ingrained it can only be considered willful and deliberate. To be blunt, it has become quite clear to me that I am dealing with a pack of incorrigible liars and lawbreakers. That will be proved in detail throughout this appeal.

           At the end, it will be obvious that ACC Decision # 75047 is arbitrary and capricious, and that the ACC has abused what discretion it may have had. In short, it will be obvious the ACC has no regard for the law and that Decision # 75047 is completely invalid.

Israel Schools WiFi Update

 

A request for another court discussion was filed by lawyer
Michael Bach, saying that the verdict of the Wi-Fi lawsuit
showed a misunderstanding of the judges.  Lawyer Bach
clarified, that in contrast to what was said in the verdict,
in fact the plaintiffs did not oppose to the position of the
State's experts. On the contrary, the plaintiffs relied on the
State experts' declared positions, according to which, wired
connection should be prefered over wireless. But the subject
of the lawsuit was that the Ministry of Education did not
implement in practice its own policy and conclusions. Lawyer
Michael Bach explained, that he asked the court to take an
expert not instead of the State experts, but an expert who can
determine the situation in practice (wired vs. wireless
schools) and the cost of wired connection.
