CDC Issues Precautionary Health Warnings about Cell Phone Radiation

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued precautionary health warnings about cell phone radiation and provides tips on how to reduce one's risk from exposure.

Joel M. Moskowitz, Ph.D.- PRLog (Press Release)- Aug. 13, 2014 - ATLANTA -- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated the Frequently Asked Questions about cell phones and health on the CDC web site.

CDC now asserts that "Along with many organizations worldwide, we recommend caution in cell phone use." As the lead Federal health action agency, CDC provides tips to the public on how to "reduce radio frequency radiation near your body."

Health authorities at the Federal, state, and local level should follow CDC's lead and disseminate precautionary health warnings to ensure that the public is adequately informed about the potential health risks of cell phone use and has the know-how to reduce exposure to the radiofrequency radiation emitted when carrying or using cell phones.

Moreover, the Federal Communications Commission should review CDC's new position in light of the Commission's obsolete regulatory standard for cell phone radiation that was adopted in 1996 when few adults used cell phones.

CDC's latest recommendations represent a considerable improvement in our Federal government's position regarding cell phone radiation health risks and the need for precaution.

CDC indicates that more research is needed to understand the health risks of exposure to cell phone radiation. However, unfortunately the U.S. has been negligent in supporting research on wireless radiation health effects. A major government research funding initiative could be launched with as little as a nickel-a-month fee on wireless subscriptions. This research initiative should be conducted independent of the wireless industry as we have considerable evidence that the industry has undermined much of the research it has funded in the past.

CDC Calls for Caution on Cell Phones, Then Gets Cold Feet

Sometime soon after we filed the story above, CDC decided it had overstepped —or, more likely, someone held its feet to the fire. Any reference to precaution was removed from its FAQ. The agency deleted any suggestion that it believes there may be health risks.

Hi-tech fears for young students

Kindergarten teacher Judi Rhodes has worked in Tasmanian schools for more than 30 years and said an increasing number of school-aged children were showing up to class without basic life skills and with health problems related to technology overuse.

Kids are at risk of biological damage results from microwave radiation emitted by wireless devices

The paper, titled "Why children absorb more microwave radiation than adults: The consequences," describes how the fetus is particularly vulnerable to microwave radiation, which can cause degeneration of the protective myelin sheath that surrounds brain neurons.  The authors recommend that wireless toys be banned due to the serious potential health risks.

"International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection
reference levels are exceeded for touchscreens ..., energy-saving
bulbs ..., fluorescent lamps .... Compliance distances for general
public range from 15.3 cm (touchscreen) ...."

Important note:  Safety recommendations indicate that -
You're not supposed to touch a touchscreen. It's supposed to be at least 15.3 cm (6 inches)
away from you and everyone else in order to reduce dangerous levels of radiation exposure.

Even if adults choose to make a decision to not care about their own
exposures, why is anyone feeling okay about giving these machines to
babies and children, and using these machines near babies, children
and any other people, and not clearly warning parents and schools
about this?

Blood-brain-barrier disruption with high-frequency pulsed electric fields

A team of researchers from Virginia Tech and Wake Forest University School of Biomedical Engineering and Sciences have developed a new technique for using pulsed electric energy to open the blood-brain-barrier (BBB) for treating brain cancer and neurological disorders.

Court upholds Crown counsel's termination after absences
A High Court judge has upheld government's 2013 termination of a
former Crown counsel who claimed that he had to stay away from the
office and work from home due to his hypersensitivity to radiation
emitted from cellular phone towers.

Comment to the newspaper -
The judge has made a very serious error by referring to standards set by the International Commission of Non-Ionising Radiation Protection.  The judge should have been aware that this is a private group that was set up by the wireless industry, comprised of industry insiders, to protect the industry and to set standards which suit that industry.  The group is ignoring all the masses of scientific evidence which show that serious biological effects are occurring at much lower levels than their standards.
A good comparison to this would be if the judge accepted cigarette industry claims that it was quite safe to smoke 100 cigarettes a day, whilst masses of scientific evidence suggested that serious harm is happening at much lower levels.  The Judge should have looked closely at the scientific evidence which shows harm occurring at very low levels of microwave radiation.
The judge also erred by referring to the World Health Organisation, stating "The evidence which he has put before the court demonstrates that this is not a medical disorder recognised by the World Health Organisation" .  The judge should be aware that the WHO was so concerned about this new illness that they held a conference to discuss it - (EMF International Workshop on EMF Hypersensitivity, Prague, Czech Republic, Oct 25 - 27 2004).  There are several knowledgeable doctors in the field of environmental health who are presently diagnosing patients with electrical hypersensitivity.
It would appear that there has been a serious miscarriage of justice and more accurate information needs to be placed before the court!
The judge further erred by referring to a study by TRC of 21 cell phone towers which stated that - radiation levels being emitted were far lower than the maximum allowed by international standards.  The standards the judge referrers to are not safe and there are several mast studies from around the World which show that serious harm is occurring to people who live closest to them - , even though the exposure levels are much lower than the ICNIRP safety levels.

Precaution or Paranoia? Berkeley May Require Cancer Warning Stickers for Cell Phones

UC San Francisco professor of medicine Stanton Glantz, one of the nation's leading experts on tobacco control and the health hazards of second-hand smoke, says that the science on the potential harm from cell phone radiation is far from settled. "I think cell phones are about where cigarettes were in 1955,'' he says. "There is more than enough evidence to be worried."

Are You Allergic to Rain?

Research shows an association between thunderstorm activity and worsening of allergy and asthma symptoms.
Another plausible explanation may be that the rain and resulting moisture is worsening ground electrical currents and that cell phones masts are increasing their power levels to pass signals through the rain and humidity, exposing people to higher radiation levels and causing allergic reactions.
1992 Swedish Evidence of EMFs Causing Cancer
The English edition of Forskning & Praktik number 7/1992 published by The Swedish National Institute of Occupational Health  was devoted to 'New Evidence of Cancer from Electromagnetic Fields'. Scientific support for this evidence was from Professor Anders Ahlbom, an epidemiologist at the Institute of Environmental Medicine at the Karolinska Institute with further scientific support provided by a study made by Dr Birgitta Floderus of the National Institute of Occupational Health's Division of Neuromedicine. Professor Bengt Knave, the division's director regards the study as strong support indeed. The study covered 1632 persons all living in central Sweden. Of these, 1121 made up the control group, 250 were leukemia cases and 261 brain tumor cases.
The research showed power lines increase cancer risk for children and explained how electromagnetic fields enhance the cancer process.

BC Smart Meter Fires

I have written a report to refute Bill Bennett's and BC Hydro's statements claiming no smart meter fires have occurred in BC. The evidence I have in the report is just the tip of the iceberg – with many "suspicious" fires yet to research. Alarmingly many fires, although attributed to "electrical/mechanical" are listed as having causes "undetermined."

Please share this information. A technical report will follow soon – it will apply to smart meters across Canada and perhaps the US.

Court Allows Expert Testimony in Litigation Alleging Cell Phone-Linked Tumors According to Consumers' Legal Team

A Washington D.C. superior court ruled that five scientific expert witnesses can testify for consumers suffering from brain tumours allegedly caused or promoted by cell phone use Ashcraft & Gerel LLP Morganroth and Morganroth PLLC Lundy Lundy Soileau & South L.L.P. and co-counsel said today.

Judge Frederick H. Weisberg who is presiding over 13 consolidated lawsuits against the telecom industry ruled that experts met the Dyas/Frye legal standards and can offer testimony related to injury causation and health effects. The court held evidentiary hearings in December 2013 and January 2014 and reviewed hundreds of exhibits.
Further Details
Twenty-nine high-profile lawsuits brought by people whose brain tumors
were caused by their cell phones are finally moving toward trial. Six of
these cases were originally filed in 2001 and 2002. Many of the
plaintiffs are no longer alive.

On Friday, Judge Frederick H. Weisberg, in the D.C. Superior Court,
admitted the testimony of five expert witness for the plaintiffs, and
the 12- and 13-year-old cases will now move into the discovery phase.
Each of the plaintiffs is asking for more than $100,000,000. There are
46 defendants including Motorola, Nokia, AT&T, Bell Atlantic, Cellular
One, Cingular Wireless, SBC Communications, Verizon, Vodafone, the
Telecommunications Industry Association, the IEEE, ANSI, the CTIA, and
the FCC. The plaintiffs are represented by Jeffrey B. Morganroth of
Morganroth & Morganroth, a law firm in Birmingham, Michigan.

For over a decade the industry and the plaintiffs have played tug-of-war
with the oldest cases, sending them back and forth between federal and
state courts, and fighting over whether the plaintiff's claims were
preempted by the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

In 2009 the D.C. Court of Appeals, in Murray v. Motorola (982 A. 2d
764), ruled that the telecommunications companies could not be sued over
brain tumors caused by cell phones manufactured after 1996. But since
all of these plaintiffs had used pre-1996 phones, their lawsuits were
allowed to go forward. They were also allowed to go forward on their
claims that the defendants made false and misleading statements and
failed to disclose information about the dangers of cell phones.  These
claims were brought under the D.C. Consumer Protection Procedures Act.

In December 2013 and January 2014, testimony was heard from:

DR. SHIRA KRAMER, a Maryland epidemiologist;

DR. MICHAEL KUNDI, professor of epidemiology and occupational health at
the Medical University of Vienna;

DR. VINI KHURANA, a neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at the
Australian National University in Canberra;

DR. IGOR BELYAEV, head research scientist at the Cancer Research
institute at the Slovak Academy of Science in Bratislava, Slovakia;

DR. WILHELM MOSGOELLER, professor and medical doctor at the University
of Vienna Medical School's Institute for Cancer Research;

DR. DIMITRIS PANAGAPOULOUS, founder of the Radiation Biophysics
Laboratory at the University of Athens;

DR. ABRAHAM LIBOFF, professor emeritus of physics at Oakland University
in Rochester, Michigan; and

DR. LAURA PLUNKETT, pharmacologist and toxicologist in Houston.

On Friday, August 8, 2014, the testimony of Drs. Kramer, Khurana, and
Panagopoulos was disallowed. But the testimony of Drs. Kundi, Belyaev,
Mosgoeller, Liboff, and Plunkett was admitted. They will testify at
trial about "general causation," i.e. that cell phones can cause brain

The lawsuits now move into the discovery phase, in which each side is
compelled to produce documents and answer questions. This is the first
time that the industry has had to turn over data. There will then be a
fight over the admission of the testimony of witnesses on "specific
causation," i.e. doctors and others who will testify that these specific
cell phones caused these specific tumors.

Friday's decision by Judge Weisberg allowed 13 of the cases, which have
been consolidated in one action, to go forward.  The other 16 cases are
being tried separately, but the parties in those cases agreed to be
bound by Friday's decision.

In allowing the experts to testify, Judge Weisberg wrote:

"Federal law is the supreme law of the land, but there is no
constitutional provision that says federal facts are the supreme facts
of the land. Federal law can preempt state law, but it cannot preempt
scientific fact. The scientific truth, whatever it may be, lies outside
of the FCC's regulations about what is "safe" or "unsafe."

Calming Behavior in Children with Autism and ADHD

I've just posted "Calming Behavior in Children with Autism and ADHD: The Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR)-Lowering Protocol (That Has No Cost or Side Effects)."

The paper features Toril Jelter, MD, a Bay Area pediatrician who has offered this two-week protocol to families and seen significant changes in children's behavior; UK biologist Andrew Goldsworthy; software designer Peter Sullivan, whose two sons displayed symptoms of autism as toddlers, and now, as teenagers, do not display autistic behaviors; and BioInitiative Co-editor Cindy Sage, who offers advice to parents for reducing EMR exposure.

Also, as a project of the EMR Policy Institute, I recently posted a list of cell tower fires and collapses.

This list was compiled by Dr. David Stupin, retired physicist from the Los Alamos National Lab. It was used to help defeat the permit of a proposed cell tower at a gas station in Santa Fe, NM.

Please share these remarkable reports with concerned citizens everywhere.

Thanks for your participation,

SaskPower CEO and president Robert Watson responds to concerns over how smart meter removal will be paid,

However, smart meters have been linked to 23 incidents reported to Ontario's Fire Marshal from 2011 to 2013.

"I can tell you 10 of those were smart meter failures attributed to internal faults, and 13 were small fires attributed to high-resistance heating," said spokeswoman Carol Gravelle.

"They complain about doubling and even tripling the usual amount of the bill," said Marie-Michelle Poisson of Refusons les compteurs, part of a growing movement refusing to make the switch to smart meters.

Unlike the old meters, she says the digital meters are unreadable so customers can't monitor their energy consumption and compare it to their bills.

Swedish Neuroscientist Olle Johannson Warns Arizona s Health Authorities About Smart Meter *Poisonous Snake*
He blasts those who dismiss scientific research showing harm from wireless technologies, saying essentially that it only takes one poisonous snake to bite you, and there are thousands of studies now showing changes in biology- many harmful- from microwave radiation exposures- even at a relatively small dose.  That makes the ubiquitous and high powered wireless pulses from smart meters particularly worrying.  Johansson says:

Smart Meter
Emissions and the Antenna Effect

An RF engineer's technical report confirms that smart meters cause an antenna effect when connected to electrical distribution systems, resulting in RF exposures that are significantly higher than those reported in isolated laboratory testing

Not only can the smart meters be attacked, but the servers at the utility that controls the smart meters can also serve as an attack vector.

War on the phone masts

A mobile phone company has been banned from erecting a mast because of health fears.

The decision is the first of its kind by Government planning inspectors.

They rejected an application by Orange to erect a 30ft mast in a residential area because of the 'serious harm' it could cause to those living nearby.
